Self-Monitoring
Develop metacognitive awareness to notice when reading breaks down and apply fix-up strategies to self-correct.

Informational Text Fluency
Apply fluency skills to non-fiction reading with appropriate prosody, handling technical vocabulary, and using text features as reading guides.

Poetry and Rhythm
Learn to read poetry fluently with attention to rhythm, rhyme, and line breaks. Students discover how poems have their own musical beat and how to use voice to bring poetry to life.

Dramatic Reading
Full expression with character voices and emotional interpretation. Students learn to differentiate narrator voice from character voices, convey emotions through vocal variation, and build toward readers theater performance.

Timed Reading Practice
Build reading rate toward grade-level benchmarks (60-90 WCPM) through timed repeated reading practice, understanding WCPM as a measure of both rate and accuracy, and setting personal growth goals.

Review and Application
